Date: 2011-2012 School Year

Evidence/activity/anecdote: Establishing positive relationships is important to have a successful year for students, parents, and our colleagues. At the beginning of the year I do a lot of activities in my classroom to set the tone for the rest of the year. One way I do this is the students make a poster where the represent things that are important to them. We also do a project with the EAGLES. We go over each of the six EAGLES and discuss how they show that EAGLES. They made a lantern to represent four of those.

With my team another teacher and I took a leadership role to help the new teachers with our curiiculum and so they new what was coming down the pike.

Impact on student’s learning: In my classroom I think that the more student s know about each other, the safer they feel in the classroom, and the more willing they are to take chances. It is also important that the students fully understand the EAGLES and how they can incorporate them into their daily lives. The students get a better curriculum when you set aside time to go over units and have new ideas and new perspective to breath life into them.
